Verycam : Note by Adam SAMUELSON

Adam SAMUELSON, manager de LOUMA UK, est l’importateur exclusif du VERYCAM pour le Royaume Uni.

What makes the Verycam different from any other tool currently on the market ?... The Verycam is not a stabilized system, nor is it intended to replace a tripod / monopod. It is not used for every shot throughout the day, nor is it meant to replace hand held shots. There are monopods, steadicam juniors, dv rig juniors and many other similar items already available. The Verycam is the only tool that extends the reach and height of the camera whilst retaining control of the camera’s pan and tilt movement.

Working experience of many years with steadicam systems has led Franck Millo and Noël Very to design and build the Verycam specifically for use with DV cameras. The camera is mounted on a tilt plate attached to a pole that has tilt control knobs either side, at the other end. Balance being of the utmost importance, the Verycam has been designed with comfort and sensitivity very much in mind. It is recommended that the Verycam is used with a wide angle lens to give the operator a new freedom of DV camera movement. Manufactured from lightweight but very strong composite plastic, the Verycam is quick to set up and is affordable to all serious DV users. Carried in an over the shoulder bag, the Verycam is ready to go in seconds and when not in use, can be rested in the Verycam belt that has storage pouches for tapes and batteries.

Because the Verycam is being held instead of the camera, the operator’s arms act as a shock absorber reducing, (but not eliminating), vibrations when moving. Shots can now be extended in range either high or low – inverting the Verycam so that the camera is inches from the ground. Shooting whilst among a crowd, (exhibition hall, wedding, disco or a general media melee) the Verycam gives the operator the flexibility to raise the camera considerably above head height, yet continue to pan & tilt the camera maintaining the required framing. The Verycam can be employed to place the camera in awkward positions to capture quick, simple shots, and there are many other uses waiting to be discovered.
